I’m pulling weeds, planting seeds
In the garden of my mind time to grow some new beliefs
In my heart the way is clear - still, I’m filled with fear
I was born into this world and I have grown
There are places I have been and people I have known
Looking in their eyes I see they’re frightened too
‘Cause they don’t know what to do anymore than I do
But it seems to be that I can change it
Take a scary thought and rearrange it
Into something that inspires me, something I can use
The world looks different now, there are many roads to choose
Like most beginnings this new thought is shy and tender
But it’s a song I never heard before big enough to surrender to
In gratitude - I fall down on my knees
In humility - this path will surely strengthen me
Enough to make a difference for the people that I love
When dark days come, like I know they will – I’ll rise above
Into clarity, there is a light in me
It’s a light that’s always been here I was just too blind to see
This is my life I’m taking it back
Heading into the future on another track
That whisks me off to places I’ve never seen before
Requires me to be so much more than I have ever been
And when I fall again – I’ll get back up;
Dust myself off with a smile on my face
I am the hero here; I make the rules
